Open Book Room

Page history last edited by John Wiser 2 yrs ago

The Open Book Room is an enclosed porch on the southeast corner

of the premises, accessible directly from outside. It contains

thousands of good books in very good condition offered at derisory

prices. Categories heavily represented include biography, history,

botany and gardening, art and architecture, hobbies, and reference.

Interseasonal issues of shelf access are currently corrected. You

are always welcome to browse, there are no guard animals, there is

more than adequate lighting...but no heat at all.

Payment is by honor system, with checks the preferred medium,

and the buyer accounts for purchases by listing stock numbers

(written on the FFEP with the price) on a supplied legal pad.

The proprietor is disinclined to interfere with OBR transactions,

particularly in the early morning, but will be glad to help if

requested and available.

Access to the Pen Book Room is available 24/7, but daylight

hours are recommended time for first-time visitors who prefer

not to stumble around on unfamiliar rural terrain in the dark.

The grounds are NOT well-lit. Snow renders the room unreachable

except from the main part of the house, so 24/7 hours are off

between mid-November and mid-March. The "by chance or by

appointment" method will work, but it is always best to call

ahead. A map showing our location on the ground may be elicited

from various internet services by entering < 33 Newton Drive,

Middletown NY 10940 >.
